Polymer Clay Sculpting Class - off site/mobile class

Polymer Clay is an art medium known for its versatility, pliability and simplicity to work with.

It is an oven bake modeling material composed of polymers, resins, coloring agents and fillers.

Polymer clay is used by artists and hobbyists. It stays continually soft and can be baked in a home oven, retaining its color and size. It is available in many colors and can be used to simulate many materials: stone, semi-precious stones, porcelain, wood, and glass.

Students will learn the basics of polymer clay:

  • how to blend the wonderful array of colors

  • condition and mold and bake the clay

  • make wearable art such as a neck pendant, earrings, bracelet, beads, or a small piece of  art to display.

About the instructor: Barbara Rabkin is a San Diego mixed media artist, who taught art in Boquete, Panama for many years: “I love color. I love to try new media and see how I can get comfortable working in new ways - acrylics, watercolors, oils, pencil, collages, mosaics, clay, textiles, even bread dough! Whatever the media, I approach the creative process with spontaneity, energy, and a sense of fun and adventure. That is what I hope my students will take away, along with their special project - the joy of exploring, playing and creating art. “
